Teen Tech Night is Friday, March 22nd | 4:30 pm-7:00pm at Maine Discovery Museum, 74 Main Street, Bangor

Hey students in grades 6-10 - are you ready to explore the exciting world of computers and information technology? Join us for Teen Tech Night, where you can learn, share, collaborate, and delve into cutting-edge software and web-based tools.

This year's workshops will feature a range of captivating sessions designed to spark your curiosity and creativity like robotics, cyber security and more!

Participants, please remember to bring your own laptop to this event. If you do not have access to a laptop, please email Shelby Bryant at shelby@educatemaine.org.

Teen Tech Night is a drop-off event, and a delicious pizza dinner will be provided at 6 pm for all participants. Don't miss out on this opportunity for maximum engagement and hands-on learning!

Event: CS Summer of Fun
Location: Umaine Orono

CS Summer of Fun is Monday July 29th to August 2nd | At Umaine Orono 

Come for a week of professional learning fun focused on integrating Computer Science into K-12 classrooms. Participants pick a pathway to fit their experience and interests during this residential learning opportunity. CS Summer of Fun is hosted by Educate Maine and MMSA, with sessions facilitated by statewide professional learning providers, the Maine Department of Education, and Maine educators.

Summer Camps in Digital and Computing Tech

Girls Who Code-  Project>Login is coordinating several regional summer camps with partners this summer. Please e-mail Angela Oechslie to see if there is a camp in your area. 

Maine School of Science and Math: Summer Camps — In Limestone. “The MSSM Summer Camp program provides an opportunity for campers to exchange ideas and experiences with like-minded peers and an enthusiastic and dedicated staff who share their passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”

USM/Maine Robotics Summer Camps - Maine Robotics is bringing FUN and EDUCATIONAL summer programs to communities all over the state.

Maine Robotics: Build Your Own Computer Camp — In Portland, Falmouth, Augusta, and Bangor. Have you ever wondered what all the parts of a desktop computer do? How a computer is put together, configured, and set up to run? This camp is for youth, ages 12 to 16 who want to build and test their own computer.

The Maine Game Summer Camp — In Bangor. “We make video games, let us show you how. We make games like Hearthstone, Crossy Road, Angry Birds and Kerbal Space Program using the Unity game engine and through C# code and 3DS Max.”

Maine Media Workshops — In Rockport. Participants will get an introduction into making a real-time “level design” in the game software Unreal Engine®. This high-end game-making software allows students to create a first-person world from their own imagination and build playable games in the game engine.

Computing & IT Groups

Maine Technology Users Group MTUG brings together interested individuals in the Maine computer networking and telecommunications industries for education, information, and networking. 

Tech Maine TechMaine’s goal is to provide a platform to highlight the exchange of news, events, and information for Maine technology professionals, technology-oriented businesses, and those reliant on technology.

Computing & Digital Meetups

Maine CSTA— Maine Computer Science Teachers Association regularly holds regional meetups across the state. They post their upcoming meetups on their website and Twitter.

Google Developers Group Meetup — over 270 members regularly hold meetups, DevFests, meet & greets, study jams, Google Women TechMaker events and more! 

Code for Maine — Meets every week on Tuesdays.Code for Maine is the local affiliate of Code for America. Code for America enlists the talent of the web industry into public service to use their skills to solve core problems facing our communities.”

Hack Portland — Meets in Portland every week on Tuesdays. “What’s a hacker? Someone who likes to know how stuff works — someone who likes to take stuff apart, someone who likes to tweak, fiddle and mess around.”

Maine Hacker Club — Meets in Bangor every 2 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays. “The goal of the group is to establish a cross-generational technical community in central and northern Maine.” 

Maine WordPress Meetup  Meets in Westbrook on the third Wednesday every 2 months. “This is a group for people interested in WordPress. If you’re interested in WordPress, let’s get together and meet each other, talk, teach things to each other, and explore the community!”

Portland iOS Developer Network — “We’ll be meeting to share discoveries, opportunities, quandaries, and solutions relating to development for Apple iPhone and iPad.”
