New Paid Internships at the Maine Turnpike Authority
January 08, 2015
Did you know the Maine Turnpike Authority develops, manages, and maintains some of the most integrated digital technology networks in the state? From sensors and cameras, to payment processing and customer account support, to getting hands-on with the hardware that makes it all work together, MTA interns are assigned to the area that best matches their interests, and then work with experts. Here’s what they’re looking for in their 2015 interns:
- Software Development - They're looking for an analytical person who has some knowledge of programming languages, preferably Java or .Net. This person will be assisting a multi-discipline development staff working with many different platforms. There are many opportunities to work with robust and mature databases, big data sets, and varied technologies.
- Systems Support - They are looking for a candidate that likes to get their hands dirty with computer hardware. The candidate will enjoy troubleshooting desktop hardware and software and digging into problems. Strong people skills are a must.
- Toll System Support - They are looking for a candidate who would like to learn how a large scale toll system works. This person would be working the length of the Turnpike with their Toll Systems Manager, helping ensure that sensors, cameras and computer systems are working properly to categorize vehicles and collect proper fares.
Can you see yourself in one of these roles? If so, take a look at the descriptions, above, or contact Katherine Moulton at kmoulton@maineturnpike.com to learn more.
[Spring 2015 update: These internships are filled, but come back in fall 2015 for more information.]
